So you think you're ready for a cosmetic procedure, but not sure what's right for you? .
The terms "Botox" and "Filler" get thrown around a lot, but what is the purpose of each one and what results can you expect?
To start, Botox is actually a brand name of "botulinum toxin", a neuromodulator derived from bacteria. There are actually multiple brand names of botulinum toxin other than Botox (#Dysport, #Xeomin, #Jeauveau ).
Botox is used to improve the appearance of wrinkles by temporarily paralyzing the muscle it is injected into.
If you want to soften lines around your forehead, eyes or those pesky "elevens" between your eyebrows, then Botox may be right for you.
There are also advanced injections using Botox such as facial slimming (injection of masseter muscle). Results last anywhere between 3-6 months.
Filler on the other hand, does exactly what the name suggests—it FILLS an area. As we get older, our skin appears less and less youthful/plump/hydrated.
